VAT collection up by 22pc in Dhaka West commissionerate

Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka
(West) collected revenue of Taka 2,781 crore in the immediate past fiscal
year 2018-19.

The amount was 22 percent higher than of Taka 2,280 crore collected in the
fiscal 2017-18, according to the officials.

Talking to BSS, Dr Moinul Khan, Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT
Commissionerate, Dhaka (West) today said time-befitting strategy, VAT audit
and strengthened monitoring activities pushed the revenue collected upward.

NBR is trying to encourage the businessmen to pay VAT and Tax
spontaneously, and it brings positive result in collecting revenue, added
Moinul.
