Bourses close mixed

Country’s capital bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed today’s session mixed following negative movement of some large-cap stocks.

At DSE, the core index, DSEX closed at 4942.23 points with a gain of 8.33 points or 0.16 percent from the previous day.

Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 increased marginally by 1.86 points while DSES decreased slightly by 2.54 points to stand at 1738.93 points and 1154.24 points respectively.

A total number of 103,483 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 76.93 million securities. At DSE, 184 securities gained price while 118 declined and 50 remained unchanged.

The market turnover, however, decreased and at the end of the session, the turnover stood at Taka 3170.842 million compared to the previous working day.

Among the large cap sectors, food and allied, fuel and power, pharmaceuticals and textile showed negative movement. Telecommunication exhibited highest positive movement with 0.76 percent profit while food and allied exhibited highest negative movement with 1.59 percent loss, according to the analysts.

The top ten gainers were Global Insurance, Janata Insurance, Provati Insurance, Northern General Insurance, Purabi General Insurance, Agrani Insurance, Islami Insurance, Paramount Insurance and Sonar Bangla Insurance.

National Tubes topped the turnover list followed by JMI Syringes, Beacon Pharma, Wata Chemicals, Legacy Footwear, United Power, Stylecraft, Bangas and VFS Thread.

The top ten losers were Al-haj Tex, Monno Ceramics, Gemini Sea, Saiham Cotton Mills, Stylecraft, Monno Stafflers, JMI Syringes and Medical Devices, Kay and Que, Sonali Ansh and Saiham Tex.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended session in red. CSCX and CASPI decreased by 3.96 and 8.46 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 4,203,481 shares and mutual fund of 255 companies were traded, of which 122 issues advanced while 94 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged.
