Business Innovation Summit 2019 held

In order for innovation to take center stage in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Innovation Conclave (BIC) on Saturday arranged ‘Bangladesh Business Innovation Summit 2019’ at a city hotel.

Bangladesh Business Innovation Summit 2019 was designed to share local and global best practices and approaches to innovation. The key focus of the summit was to drive innovation within different sectors and harness the skillset to drive innovation, adding value to the lives of people and helping them pursue inclusive growth.

Bangladesh Business Innovation Summit comprised of 3 keynote sessions, 3 panel discussions, 4 insight sessions, a case study and a start-up story.

Founder of Bangladesh Innovation Conclave Shariful Islam spoke on the opening ceremony and stressed on innovation which paves the way to achieve our country’s vision and pursue inclusive growth.

The keynote speakers of the summit were Kin Wai Michael Siu, Eric C Yim Professor in Inclusive Design and Chair Professor of Public Design, School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Amer Farid, Director of Corporate Partnerships and Innovation at Unicef Norway, and Dr Newton Howard, Professor of Neurocomputation, Neurosurgery and Mathematics at University of Oxford, Professor of Brain Sciences at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and Chairman of the Brain Sciences Foundation.

Topics for the three panel discussions will be – How to Transform Your Company’s Innovation Culture, Driving Process Innovation in Your Organization, and Exploring a Collaborative Model to Build Bangladesh Innovation Eco- System.

The eminent discussants of the summit were Prof Dr Syed Ferhat Anwar, Director of Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka; Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Dhaka Bank Limited; Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of a2i: Access to Information; Sabbir Hasan Nasir, Executive Director of ACI Logistics Limited (Shwapno); Barrister Nihad Kabir, President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI); Md Sirazul Islam, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); Zafar Sobhan, Editor of Dhaka Tribune; Arif Ud Dowla, Managing Director of ACI Limited; Munawar Misbah Moin, Managing Director of Rahimafrooz Renewable Energy Ltd; Tanzeen Ferdous, Marketing Director (Home Care, Foods and Refreshment), Unilever Bangladesh Ltd; Amer Farid, Director Corporate Partnership and Innovation of Unicef Norway; Kin Wai Michael Siu, Eric C. Yim Professor in Inclusive Design and Chair Professor of Public Design, School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Major General Sheikh Md Monirul Islam (Retd), Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer, Bkash Limited; Nazmul Karim Chowdhury, Executive Vice President, Head of Brand and Communications at Prime Bank Ltd.; Gazi Yar Mohammed, Executive Vice President and Head of MFS and Agent Banking at One Bank Limited; M M Monirul Alam Tapan, Managing Director at Guardian Life Insurance Limited; and Dr M Rokonuzzaman, Professor, Department of ECE, North South University.

The summit was followed by Bangladesh Business Innovation Award 2019 that aims to recognize the vibrant community of innovators – from startups to established companies – and its breakthrough creations and ideas.

The award was given across 10 categories and all the nominated campaigns were selected through rigorous jury sessions comprising of the most respected marketing and brand experts to keep the process transparent, accountable and bias-free.

Bangladesh Business Innovation Summit and Award 2019 are the initiatives of Bangladesh Innovation Conclave which are organized by Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF). The event is powered by Mastercard.
