Bourses edge down further

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed today edging down further maintaining the trend of previous session.

The broad index, DSEX closed in red at 4670.74 points on Tuesday with a loss of 28.48 points or 0.60 percent.

But, the expectant investors reshuffled their holding to fuel and power, financial institutions and ceramic sectors based on lucrative price levels in anticipation of better return.

The turnover has increased to above Taka 3.5 billion marks where Taka 0.71 billion came from the block market.

The bank sector dominated the turnover board and grabbed 19.7 percent of the day’s turnover where Al-Arafah Islami Bank topped the turnover list with 9.6 percent of the total turnover.

Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 also declined by 13.44 points while the Shariah index, DSES decreased by 7.07 points to stand at 1635.50 points and 1067.45 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 108,786 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 134.23 million securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 354 issues traded, 110 securities gained price while 197 declined and 47 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were Alif Industries, GQ Ball Pen, Coppertech Industries, Aramit, Miracle Industries, Yeakin Polymer, Simtex, Far Chemical, Kay & Que and Stylecraft.

National Tubes topped the turnover chart followed by Sonarbangla Insurance, Monno Ceramics, Legacy Footwear, Square Pharma, Fortune Shoes, VFS Thread, Standard Ceramics, Silco Pharma and Golden Harvest.

The top 10 losers were Intech Limited, Usmania Glass, Tosrifa Industries, Zahin Tex, Imam Button, Global Heavy, Legacy Footwear, Shinepukur Ceramics, Aman Feeds and Meghna Condense Milk.

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed in red maintaining the streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 83.19 points and 140.87 points to stand at 8627.11 points and 14184.47 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 6,705,177 shares and mutual fund of 239 companies were traded, of which 67 issues advanced while 145 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged.
