Banglalink partners with Google to facilitate youth employment

Banglalink, one of the leading digital communications service providers in the country, has entered into a strategic partnership with Google to facilitate youth employment in the country.

Erik Aas, chief executive officer (CEO) at Banglalink, made the announcement on Monday at a virtual press conference, which was also joined by Bickey Russel, Operations Lead of Kormo Jobs at Google’s Next Billion Users initiative team.

Under this partnership, Banglalink will host kiosks for Kormo Jobs by Google, at its customer centres in Dhaka and Chittagong.

Kormo Jobs is a jobs and career development app which will assist job-seekers in finding employment opportunities and accessing learning resources through the app.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar also joined the virtual event as the chief guest.

Taimur Rahman, chief corporate and regulatory affairs officer of Banglalink, Gaurav Kakkar, digital business director of Banglalink, and Ankit Sureka, head of corporate communications and sustainability of Banglalink, were also present at the virtual event.

Speaking at the event, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said this kind of partnership between the two tech organisations can significantly contribute to the making of a digitally advanced nation.

“The youth of our country need to utilise such digital platforms to open up more career building opportunities. I wholeheartedly appreciate this joint-initiative and wish it all the success in future.”

Banglalink CEO Erik Aas said, “We believe that making more job opportunities and learning resources accessible through digital platforms is an effective way to foster employment in a country like Bangladesh.

“Our strategic partnership with Kormo Jobs will help more job-seekers take advantage of the platform and find opportunities according to their skill sets.”

Operations Lead of Kormo Jobs at Google’s Next Billion Users initiative team Bickey Russel said, “I would like to thank Banglalink for their willingness to partner with us to help us expand our horizons across the country in bringing career opportunities to those who need them most.

“With dedicated kiosks at Banglalink customer care centres, we will be able to reach more job-seekers and employers who can benefit from our platform through its job-matching, upskilling and training features.”

At the kiosks, Kormo representatives will assist job-seekers in finding employment opportunities and accessing learning resources through the Kormo Jobs app.

Kormo Jobs will also hold regular training sessions on CV writing, interview tips, and other topics on jobs search as part of the initiative.
