A total of 70 candidates from the two contesting panels took part in the polls for the 26 posts of directors for the Dhaka region and nine director posts for the Chattogram region.
The voting of the biennial election of BGMEA started at 9:00am on Sunday at Radisson Blu hotel in Dhaka and the regional office of the trade body in Chattogram that ended at 7:00pm.
Of the total 2,314 voters, 1,996 cast their votes to elect the 2021-23 BGMEA executive committee.
The newly elected 35 directors would elect a president, a first vice-president, a senior vice-president, and five vice-presidents on April 16.
As per the schedule, the new committee will take charge in a ceremony on April 20.
