Tk 2.12b handed over to pay closed jute mill workers

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) allocated on Thursday over Tk 2.12 billion for payment of arrears of the workers of the closed jute mills of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC).

The MoF provided the money to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute (MoTJ) as operational loan.

The MoTJ will pay the money to 21,552 jobless workers in their respective accounts through BJMC.

The workers must provide their national identity cards and bank account numbers to the banks as proof to get their dues.

The BJMC cannot spend the money for other purposes except for payment of the workers’ arrears, according to a statement of MoTJ.
