TCB launches OMS today

Consumers will have to count Tk 10 more for each litre of soybean oil under the government’s open market sale (OMS) programme.

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to launch OMS of key essential items today (Wednesday) to keep their prices within the buying capacity of common people, according to its press release.

TCB, a state-owned agency, will sell essential commodities using 400-450 trucks across the country. The OMS programme will continue until November 28, except on holidays. Soybean oil will be sold at Tk 110 per litre, while Tk 55 has been fixed for each kg of sugar, Tk 60 for each kg of lentil, and Tk 30 for each kg of onion.

A consumer can buy maximum two kgs of sugar, two kgs of lentils, and two litres of soybean oil from the TCB trucks, dealers or sales centres.

Earlier, the TCB sold per litre of soybean oil at Tk 100, and per kg of lentil at Tk 55 under its OMS programme.
