1,400 Bangladeshi IP address used for cyber-attack in Russia & Ukraine

Almost 1,400 IP address has been used by hackers of Russia and Ukraine to launch cyberattacks on each other. This revelation comes after a recent investigation conducted by Bangladesh Government’s e-Government Computer Incident Response Team (BGD e-GOV CIRT or BD CIRT).

Ever since the conflict erupted, according to several media reporting, hackers from Russia and Ukraine has been attempting to hack into each other’s critical IT infrastructure using botnet and malware.

Very recently, based on the attack signatures, the Russian cyber security agency shared their concern about these attacks with BD CIRT which prompted the latter to launch an investigation. Later, BD CIRT was able to identify around 1,400 infected IP Addresses.

According to BD CIRT, these infected IP addresses have been used for spreading misinformation and running distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

Due to these attacks, BD CIRT has issued a public advisory before the Eid holidays. In the advisory signed by Tarique M Barkatullah, Project Director of BD CIRT, it is requested for Bangladeshi institutions stay vigilant and update their security configurations.
