Large-cap stocks attract investors on DSE,CSE


The prices of most of the shares on both bourses saw upward trend in early hour of trading on Sunday, the opening session of the week. Market investors said market opened higher as the optimistic investors went on buying binge, especially on large-cap stocks that saw correction in the past week. After first 30 minutes of trading, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up by 20.14 points or 0.46 per cent to stand at 4,408.15 points, when the report was filed at 11:00am.




The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 14.90 points or 0.87 per cent to reach at 1,722.87 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also went up by 6.85 points or 0.64 per cent to reach at 1,083.44 points. Turnover, an important indicator of the market, stands at Tk 515 million on the DSE when the report was filed at 11:00am, riding on Lafrge Surma Cement. Of the issues traded till then, 133 advanced, 63 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged.



Lafarge Surma Cement dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 88 million changing hands till then, followed by Shahjibazar Power Company Tk 38 million United Airways Tk 37 million, , IFAD Autos Tk 28  and National Feed Mills Ltd Tk 24 million.



The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-also saw positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index- CSCX–advancing 40.57 points to stand at 8,266.22 points, also at 11:00am.



Of the issues traded till then, 58 gained, 25 declined and 10 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 38 million.
