Stocks mostly lower in early trading PDF Print E-mail

Share prices mostly witnessed a downward trend with worried investors going on the selling binge at both bourses in early trade on Sunday.

Following the previous week’s major correction, the key index of the country’s prime bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell 20 points within first 15 minutes of trading at 10:45am.


After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX stood at 5375 points, losing 24 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) fell 26 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.

DSEX, prime index of the DSE, went down by 24.27 points or 0.45 per cent to stand at 5,375 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Two other DSE indices also fell. 

DS30, comprising blue chips, also fell 7.76 points or 0.38 per cent to stand at 1984 points, and DSES lost 4.78 points or 0.38 per cent to reach at 1,250.38 points at 11:00am.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 720 million on the DSE, when the report was filed at 11:00am, riding on IFAD Autos.

IFAD Autos dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 147 million changing hands, followed by Paramount Textile Tk 65 million, Zaheen Spinning Tk 32 million, LankaBangla Tk 30 million and Doreen Power Tk 26 million.

Of the issues traded, 59 advanced, 141 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged till 11:00am.

Port city bourse CSE also saw a downward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 26 points to stand at 10,098 points, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 16 gained, 38 declined and 12 remained unchanged with its turnover value standing at Tk 18 million.
