Grameenphone CEO demanded arbitration to settle the ongoing conflict with BTRC
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Md Jahurul Haque has said there is no scope of arbitration in their existing law regarding bandwidth cut off.
He made the statement at a press briefing in BTRC office around 1pm on Sunday.
The statement came as a reply to Grameenphone (GP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Patrick Foley’s demand of holding arbitration to settle the ongoing conflict with BTRC regarding bandwidth cut off.
BTRC on July 4, partially cut off the internet capacity of the mobile operator along with Robi Axiata Ltd, as the companies failed to pay government dues.
The BTRC, after auditing GP in April, asked the company to pay Tk12,579.95 crore in taxes, and late fees that accumulated over the years.
