Bourses observe another sluggish session

Country’s capital bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed another sluggish trading session today by extending the losing spell, as notable selling of shares was observed in all sectors, especially in large-cap sectors that contributed to the fall in indices.

Investors selling appetite was observed from the beginning of the session although some enthusiastic investors’ effort to reverse the motion in the middle but failed to sustain because of strong presence of the risk-averse investors, according to market analysts.

With a loss of 50.57 points or 1.06 percent from the previous day, the broad index, DSEX closed in red at 4711.30 points on Monday.

Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 also declined by 19.27 points while the Shariah index, DSES decreased by 17.81 points to stand at 1669.89 points and 1081.79 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 98,875 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 96.45 million securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 352 issues traded, 81 securities gained price while 231 declined and 41 remained unchanged.

The top ten gainers were ML Dying, Nahee Aluminum, Shepherd, New Line, CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund, Kohinoor, Eastern Insurance, BNICL, BD Finance and Bank Asia.

National Tubes topped the turnover sheet followed by Square Pharma, Wata Chemical, BSC, Summit Power, BSCCL, JMI Syringe, Standard Ceramic, Monno Stafflers and Atlas Bangladesh.

The top ten losers were Evince Tex, Doreen Power, Argon Denims, Usmania Glass, RN Spinning, Standard Ceramic, Desh Garments, AFC Agro, Wata Chemical and Apex Footwear.

Besides, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) registered a downbeat maintaining the previous day. CSCX and CASPI decreased by 64.22 points and 106.03 points to stand at 8750.21 points and 14404.17 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 6,774,552 shares and mutual fund of 235 companies were traded, of which 59 issues advanced while 145 declined and 31 issues remained unchanged.
