NBR bags Tk2,016.45 crore in six days. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) bagged around Tk2,016.45 crore in taxes in six days of the countrywide income tax fair. The NBR disclosed the figure at the end of Tuesday’s fair.
The weeklong event that kicked off Thursday ends on Wednesday.
According to the NBR, the revenue board collected Tk357.80 crore on Tuesday, while 252,815 people received various tax-related services at tax fairs across the country.
The NBR bagged Tk311.85 crore in taxes on Monday, Tk282.57 crore on Sunday, Tk262.03 crore on Saturday, Tk489 crore on Friday, and Tk323.19 crore on Thursday.
A total of 119,104 people submitted their tax returns yesterday, the total number of tax submissions in six days being 539,910.
On the other hand, 5,325 people received electronic TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number), the total number of e-TIN registrations at the tax fairs hitting 26,831 in six days.
NBR officials said that the tax fair was festive on the sixth day, as they got remarkable response from the visitors and taxpayers alike.
Long queues were seen at the fair venues across the country, they said, while adding that the number of visitors and service seekers would increase further in the last day of the fair.
The NBR has been arranging the fair since 2010 with the aim to provide individuals with opportunities to have TIN, submit tax returns, and pay taxes in a hassle-free environment.
The weeklong tax fair in the capital as well as in divisional headquarters is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
This year, the income tax fair is being held in 120 places across the country. The fairs at the district and upazila levels are scheduled to be held for four days and two days respectively.
The last date of return submission is November 30.
