The prices of gold in the local market have shot up again by Tk 1,166 per bhari (11.664 grams), crossing the Tk 60,000 mark for the first time in the past few months.
Citing a price hike of the precious metal in the international market, Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) announced the hike issuing a press statement on Saturday.
After the latest hike, the price of one bhari of 22-carat gold stands at Tk 60,361 while 21-carat gold price at Tk 58,028, 18-carat gold at Tk 53,013 and traditional gold at Tk 40,241 per bhari.
The new prices will come into effect from Sunday, says the statement.
The price of silver, however, remained unchanged at Tk 933.
Earlier, BAJUS increased the prices of gold by Tk 1,167 per bhari in June, 2019.
