Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Tuesday distributed foodstuffs among 1,300 jobless and distressed families before the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity to stand beside them amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.The foodstuffs were distributed among the poor, low-income group people, labourers, workers and slum dwellers, employees of different shops, ethnic community, distressed and helpless people.
Each of the beneficiary families received a sac containing two kgs each of rice and potato, 500 grams each of salt, pulse and sugar, one piece of soap, 400 grams of puffed rice, 500 ml each of soybean oil and packed milk, one kg of ‘Lachcha’ vermicelli, 400 grams of biscuits and one piece of sweet pumpkin.
President of RCCI Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu inaugurated distribution of the foodstuffs through handing over 100 sacs to Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud and 300 sacs to Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan at their respective office premises this noon. The RpMP Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner with other officials distributed the foodstuffs packed in 300 sacs among the jobless, needy and distressed people across the metropolitan city.
Executive committee members and Directors of RCCI distributed the other 1,000 sacs of foodstuffs among the jobless, destitute and needy people at different ceremonies arranged across the city. RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu said RCCI distributed the foodstuffs among the distressed people under its corporate social responsibility to stand beside them and assist them in celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
