The state minister made the remarks at a press briefing on Sunday, in the wake of the government decision to shut coal-based power plants as part of the country’s gradual shift to green energy.
Then power projects going to be shut are– Patuakhali coal-based power plant, 1200MW Uttarbanga Super Thermal Power Plant in Gaibandha, 522MW coal-based power plant in Mawa, 282MW coal-based power plant in Dhaka, 282MW coal-based power plant in Chattogram, 565MW coal-based power plant in Khulna, 1320MW coal-based power plant in Moheskhali, 1320MW coal-based power plant in Moheskhali, 700MW Bangladesh-Singapore coal-based ultra-super critical power plant and 1200MW CPGCL- Sumitomo Corporation joint-venture plant.Bangladesh needs power generation from natural gas, LNG, furnace oil and coal, Nasrul Hamid said adding that the country modifies energy plan to fight environment degradation.
