Remittance drops to 5-month low in July

Inflow fell to $1.87 billion due to lower number of working days throughout the month

Remittance hit a five-month low in July at $1.87 billion due to lower number of working days throughout the month.

Inflows were 4% lower than June and 28% lower than July of the previous year, according to data by the Bangladesh Bank.

Bangladeshis working and living abroad sent remittance worth $1.78 billion in February, following which inflows kept rising.

In March, Bangladesh received $1.91 billion in remittances, followed by $2.06 billion in April, $2.17 billion in May, and $1.94 billion in June.

Remittance inflows hit a record high of $24.77 billion in the 2020-21 fiscal year.
