Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Investment Minister, said there is a huge potential for more Saudi investment in Bangladesh as the country has an investment-friendly environment.
The Saudi investment minister expressed the hope on Sunday during his meeting with Salman F Rahman, the visiting Private Industry and Investment Advisor to the Prime Minister, said a press release.
During the meeting, Salman F Rahman apprised the Saudi minister the steps undertaken by the current government to attract foreign investment.
He proposed to set up a special economic zone for Saudi investors as committed by the Prime Minister.
The Saudi investment minister welcomed Bangladesh’s proposal.
The advisor made a request to the minister to finalize the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at creating opportunities for Saudi investment in the public-private partnership arrangement.
If the MoU is signed, Salman said, the opportunities for Saudi investment in various sectors, including different infrastructures of Bangladesh, would be widened.
Al-Falih informed the advisor that the draft MoU is in the final phase and hoped it would be signed soon.
During the talk, the Saudi minister stressed on the importance of signing cooperation agreements or memoranda of understanding on specialized economic zone-based investments.
