Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA) and Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB) have started working together for fixing uniform exchange rate to manage foreign exchange market.
This was informed today after a tripartite meeting of Bangladesh Bank (BB), Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA) and Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB).
BB Governor Fazle Kabir took part in the meeting was held at the central bank headquarters in the city.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, BB Executive Director Md Serajul Islam said BAFEDA and ABB are working together for fixing uniform exchange rate and all authorized dealer banks will maintain the rate.
After submitting proposal on interbank exchange rate by BAFEDA, he said that BB will review it then.
Serajul Islam said exporters will encash their foreign earnings with their dealer banks so that they cannot sell dollars at high price to another bank.
He said the central bank will continue its liquidity support as per requirement and if needed, the support will be given in future also.
