Ten most-traded stocks accounted for nearly one-third of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week, with Bangladesh Export Import Company (Beximco) leading the turnover list.
Market insiders said Beximco — the flagship company of Beximco Group — topped the turnover list again as investors were active in both buying and selling the company’s shares in the Eid-shortened week.
Beximco Group companies — particularly, Beximco and Shinepukur Ceramics — have led the market turnover chart in the past few months.
According to DSE data, some 9.56 million Beximco shares were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 1.24 billion, which was 6.32 per cent of the week’s total turnover.
The week’s total turnover stood at Tk 19.62 billion on the prime bourse in the outgoing week as against Tk 38.14 billion in the week before as last week saw only three trading days instead of regular five sessions.
Beximco’s share closed at Tk 128 on Thursday, losing 2.88 per cent over the previous week. Its shares traded between Tk 88.60 and Tk 187.90 in the last one year.
The company’s EPS for three months (January-March 2022) soared to Tk 4.51 as against Tk 2.38 for January-March 2021.
IPDC Finance came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 1.12 billion changing hands. The company’s share price rose 5.12 per cent to close at Tk 63.60 on Thursday.
Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 946 million changing hands. The state-run entity’s share closed at Tk 46.70 on Thursday, soaring 6.62 per cent over the previous week.
Fortune Shoes notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 939 million changing hands. The shoe maker’s share price dropped slightly by 0.45 per cent to close at Tk 88.30 on Thursday.
Turnover of Delta Life Insurance was Tk 413 million. The life insurer’s share price advanced 0.27 cent to close at Tk 148.40 on Thursday.
Shinepukur Ceramics featured a turnover of Tk 358 million. Its share closed at Tk 48, losing 3.42 per cent over the previous week.
The turnover of Golden Son was Tk 321 million. The company’s share price jumped 14.94 per cent to close at Tk 20 on Thursday.
Fu-Wang Food featured a turnover of Tk 312 million. The company’s share closed at Tk 25.50, losing 3.77 per cent over the week before.
The turnover of JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing was Tk 279 million. The company’s share price dropped 2.70 per cent to close at Tk 79.20 on Thursday.
Intraco Refueling Station also made its way to the week’s top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 276 million changing hands. The company’s share fell 4.79 per cent to close at Tk 29.80 on Thursday, the last day of the week.
