The revenue collection by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) witnessed a healthy growth of 15 percent in the first month (July) of the current fiscal year (FY23) fetching Taka 17,520.45 crore.
The revenue collection by the revenue board in July last year was Taka 15,344.25 crore.
According to NBR, the revenue collection during this one-month period from customs totaled Taka 6,766.68 crore, from VAT Taka 6,021.62 crore and from income tax and travel tax Taka 4,732.15 crore.
The NBR data also showed that revenue collection from customs increased by 37.68 percent in July as the revenue collection from such sector was Taka 4,914.68 crore in July last year.
Besides, the revenue collection from VAT in this July enjoyed a 10 percent growth as Taka 5,797.48 crore were collected from VAT in July last year. However, there was no growth from income tax in this July.
The NBR earlier set a target of realizing Taka 3.70 lakh crore as revenue in the current fiscal year (FY23) while the revenue collection target in this July was Taka 20,586 crore.
