The Bangladesh Bank on Sunday extended the bank transaction hours by half an hour till 3:00pm for the extended period of Covid restrictions.
On Sunday, the central bank’s department of offsite supervision department issued a circular in this regard after a government notice on movement restrictions was issued on the day.
The extension of bank transaction hours would be applicable to the May 31-June 6 period.
As per the BB’s instructions, banking services will be available for customers from 10:00am to 3:00pm and banks will be allowed to keep their office open till 4:30pm to complete transaction-related tasks.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission on Sunday also decided to extend the trading hours on stock exchanges by 30 minutes from today as the central bank increased the banking transaction hours.
So, transaction on the stock exchanges will be held from 10am to 2:30pm.
Banks have been providing customers with almost all the banking services on a limited scale since April 14.
The government has been enforcing fresh Covid restrictions since April 14 to check the resurgence of the pandemic.
Initially, banking services were available for three hours, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, for each working day except the government holidays.
The BB gradually extended the bank transaction hours with the relaxation of restrictions by the government.
With the half an hour banking hour extension, banking services have been made available for five hours for the customers.
