Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday extended the banking transaction time by half an hour till 3:30pm for the extended period of lockdown.
Under the new instruction of the central bank, banks would serve customers for five and a half hours from 10:00am on every working day, except for government holidays.
Amid the restrictions on movement, the banks had been providing services to the customers on a limited scale.
Banks had been providing services to their customers for five hours till 3:00pm since May 30 amid the countrywide restrictions on movement.
As per the BB’s instructions, banks are allowed to keep their office open till 5:00pm to complete transaction-related tasks after serving customers till 3:30pm.
Banks have been providing customers with almost all the banking services on a limited scale since April 14.
The government has been enforcing fresh Covid restrictions since April 5 to check the resurgence of the pandemic.
Initially, banking services were available for three hours, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, for each working day except the government holidays.
The BB gradually extended the bank transaction hours with the relaxation of restrictions by the government.
