President for cultivating and preserving fish species in Bangladesh

President M Abdul Hamid released various species of fish fries to mark the National Fisheries Week-2021

President M Abdul Hamid has asked all concerned, especially the government and non-government entrepreneurs, to increase fish production by cultivating and preserving different varieties of local fishes.

Releasing fish fries at Bangabhaban to mark the National Fisheries Week-2021 on Tuesday, he said: “Production of local fishes has decreased to a large extent and some varieties of local fishes are facing extinction. So, we must take steps to encourage people to cultivate and preserve different varieties of local fishes.”

Stating that the fisheries sector has a lot of potential in meeting the demand of nutrition, he said: “The fisheries sector can help create employment opportunities as  well as earning huge amounts of foreign exchange.”

 

The head of the state released various species of fish fries, including Rui, Katla, Mrigel, Kali Baus, Pabda, Gulsha, Subarna Rui, Lobster, Mahashol in the Lion Pond of Bangabhaban.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, President’s Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin, Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Rawnak Mahmud, and other civil and military high officials were present there.
