Two-hundred metric tonnes of liquid oxygen, imported by rail from India, has been unloaded at Benapole land port for the first time.
It was previously unloaded at Bangabandhu Bridge West Station in Sirajganj.
The liquid oxygen was unloaded last night in a tanker at Benapole Port’s gate-2 from India’s Oxygen Express train, reports our local correspondent.
Sarathi Enterprise, a C&F agent, has finished the formalities of unloading the oxygen, said Matiur Rahman, an official of Sarathi Enterprise.
Linde Bangladesh Limited imported oxygen and Linde India Limited exported it, he said.
Matiur Rahman, also a representative of the importer, told The Daily Star that liquid oxygen from India, from now on, will be unloaded in tankers at Benapole port. It will be sent to other locations as requested by the customer.
“It will save us money on transportation,” he added.
