Bangladesh Bank suspends five money changers

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has suspended the operations of five money changers for keeping dollars beyond the limit and other irregularities.

The central bank also sent show-cause notices to 42 money changers for flouting its rules amid the global dollar crisis, BB Executive Director and Chief Spokesperson Md Serajul Islam said, reports BSS.

In addition, the BB also directed the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to investigate the activities of nine other money changers, he added.

Several central bank teams have carried out raids with members of the law enforcement agencies at money changers in the capital for the past one week.
