DSE hits highest single-day turnover in 6-month

Country’s capital bourse, Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) registered a highest single-day turnover in six-month although
the core index slipped to downbeat skidding off a two-day winning spell.

The turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, soared to Taka 5.95
billion that was 55 percent higher than of the previous day’s Taka 3.84
billion, as the risk-averse investors showed selling rush for large-cap
shares.

Market analysts said it was also the highest single-day turnover more than
six months since March 13 this year when turnover totaled Taka 7.08 billion.

The market opened on negative note and the downward trend continued until
end of the session amid modest volatility in the mid-session.

The broad index, DSEX closed in red at 4947.63 points with a loss of 28.09
points or 0.56 percent from the previous day.

In addition, the two selective indices, DSE30 declined by 8.01 points while
DSES decreased by 10.83 points to stand at 1759.96 points and 1138.70 points
respectively.

Most of the large cap sectors showed negative movement today. Among the
large cap sectors, textile exhibited highest negative movement with 2.02%
loss.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 136,263 trades were executed
in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 228.24 million
securities.

Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 354 issues traded, 92
securities gained price while 221 declined and 41 remained unchanged.

The top ten gainers were CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund 1, CAPM IBBL Mutual Fund,
VAM LRB Balanced Fund, ATCS Life Growth Fund, MIDAS Financing, International
Leasing and Finance, LR Global Bangladesh Mutual Fund One, Premier Leasing
and Financing, BD Finance, Green Delta Insurance.

Monno Stafflers topped the turnover chart followed by BSC, Summit Power,
National Tubes, Fortune Shoes, Premier Bank, Stylecraft, GP, Monno Creramic
and Sonarbangla Insurance.

The top ten losers were Mithun Knitting and Dying, Al-haj Tex, Tung Hai
Knitting and Dying, Stylecraft, Alif Industries, Zaheen Spinning, Monno
Creramic, Yeakin Polymer and GQ Ball pen.

Besides, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also
registered downbeat defying the upsurge of last three days. CSCX and CASPI
decreased by 37.80 points and 62.60 points to stand at 9139.66 points and
15046.73 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 26,777,790 shares and mutual fund of 273 companies were
traded, of which 95 issues advanced while 155 declined and 23 issues remained
unchanged.
