State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder on Tuesday said the government will intensify the anti-adulteration drives across the country to ensure safe food for the people.
“We will strengthen the anti-adulteration drives. For this, we will open Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) offices at every district across the country,” he told journalists after a function marking the inauguration of a mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at BSTI headquarters in the city, according to a press release.
Earlier, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and Kamal Majumder inaugurated the mural of Bangabandhu.
BSTI has set up the mural marking the celebration of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim, BSTI Director General Md Muazzem Hossain and Director General of the Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (BITAC) Dr Md Mofuzur Rahman were present in the inauguration function.
Kamal Majumder said an adulteration-free developed Bangladesh was the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and so, he established the BSTI.It is possible to make true the dream of adulteration-free developed Bangladesh through BSTI, he added.
