Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the finance minister and the Bangladesh Bank governor for raising home loan limit to Taka two crore.
Considering the growing demand of house loan, the time-befitting decision of increasing house loan limit is really appreciable, while both the buyers and sellers of flats will benefit from it, a REHAB press release said.
The REHAB thinks the government’s decision will help bring pace in the country’s housing sector. But, it voiced concern over not brining interest rate of house loan to single digit.
The Bangladesh Bank has increased maximum limit for home loans to Taka two crore from Taka 1.2 crore considering the increased apartment price and purchasing capacity of people.
The central bank yesterday directed the commercial banks issuing a circular to follow the order.
The circular said the central bank considered the rise in prices of building materials, size of higher middle-class people and demand for housing.
