Amid rumour of salt price hike, the salt mill owners of Chittagong have decided to sell salt in open market at Tk15 per kg
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Elius Hossain on Wednesday warned stern action against those who were trying to make the salt market unstable.
He said this during a meeting with the salt mill owners at his office in the port city.
“There is no stock crisis in the country. The current salt reserve is much more than the demand. Do not pay heed to rumour. Stern action will be taken against people trying to create artificial crisis in the market through spreading rumours,” said the DC.
The salt mill owners informed the meeting that there was no question of salt crisis as 3.50 lakh tons of salt was currently in stock in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar.
