The pharmaceuticals & chemicals sector dominated the top 10 turnover chart of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday.
Of the 10 top turnover leaders, six were from the pharmaceuticals & chemicals sector, which made the highest contribution to the total market turnover.
The six companies are Beacon Pharmaceuticals, Orion Pharma, Square Pharmaceuticals, Orion Infusion, Silva Pharmaceuticals and Far Chemicals.
The day’s total turnover stood at Tk 4.09 billion on the premier bourse.
Of the total turnover, Tk 1.03 billion came from pharmaceuticals & chemicals sector.
Beacon Pharmaceuticals became the number one turnover leader by generating Tk 301 million, of which 186 million came from transactions executed in the block board.
The company accounted for 7.36 per cent of the market turnover and its share price closed at Tk 65.10 each, shedding 2.86 per cent.
Orion Pharma logged a turnover of Tk 184.7 million, accounting for 4.51 per cent of the market turnover.
The company’s share price closed at Tk 44.90 each, advancing 9.22 per cent or Tk 3.80.
Square Pharmaceuticals featured a turnover of Tk 139.6 million, making up 3.41 per cent of the turnover. Of its total turnover, Tk 40 million came from transactions executed in the block board.
The company’s share price closed at Tk 179.80 each, losing 0.83 per cent or Tk 1.5.
Orion Infusion posted a turnover of Tk 111 million, which is 2.71 per cent of the market turnover. The company’s share price declined 0.76 per cent or Tk 0.6 to close at Tk 78.60 each.
The share price of Silva Pharmaceuticals declined 3.0 per cent or Tk 0.6 to end at Tk 19.30 each. The company featured a turnover of Tk 83.6 million, accounting for 2.04 per cent of the total market turnover.
