Asian markets mostly fell Thursday as optimism over the China-US trade talks took a jolt after Donald Trump signed into law a bill recognising Hong Kong’s rights, prompting an angry response from Beijing.

Hong Kong stocks opened sharply lower on Thursday after US President Donald Trump signed a law backing the city’s rights, despite warnings from China, fuelling concerns about the fate of ongoing trade talks.

Asian shares rose on Wednesday as upbeat signals from Sino-US trade talks fanned hopes of an easing of tariff hostilities, while expectations the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates low supported sentiment.

Dhaka stocks advanced on Tuesday with the turnover hitting a two-month high as investors went for buying shares of banks, non-bank financial institutions and textile companies after the recent price fall.
